SUBJECT: Amor Trims With Functionality
Hi Joel, and fWhip,
I just listened to your newest episode discussing armor trims with MythicalSausage, and once again really enjoyed the episode. Being relatively new to Minecraft, (I’ve been playing almost a year) I am not especially hyped by the prospect of netherite being harder, and more expensive to get. What I wonder more however, is why the trims only have aestethic effects, but no functional use.
To be honest, I personally wouldn’t go in search of a specific template, and spend a lot of diamonds just to look a little bit cooler. However, it would be tempting if the material added for the trim changed the functionality of the piece of armor. For example a gold trim might appease piglins like a gold helmet does, lapis could make you swim faster, redstone could add speed to your movement, or your attack speed when shooting a bow, or cooper might make you immune to lighting like a lightning rod, and so on. I think this could be interesting both in reinforcing the piece of armor in additional ways to enchantments, and if each material trim had a disadvantage, like a gold trim weaking your armor a bit, it would force players to compromise.
I’m interested to hear your thoughts on this, and on which functionality you would envision for the different materials.
Best wishes,
Annina, aka AnnieOne1

How To Build World Stories In Minecraft
From the planning, and construction of a medieval town, to the layered depths of a goblin mine, Joel, and fWhip explain their creative processes behind large, cumulative Minecraft projects that are made up of several, often dozens of smaller builds. Where do they start? Where do you find the “why” behind the project? And, how do they communicate these ideas in Minecraft?
