The Spawn Chunks 413: Farewell To The End Rings
The floor is lava! But that’s OK, because we have… striders? Joel and Jonny talk about the new Minecraft mob and related news in the latest snapshot, along with Minecraft Dungeons beta play footage and answering listener email on build scale.

- Finished up the command center main floor lighting, and added blinking observers under all of the bay doors that are meant to look like magnetic seals at the ready.
- Added door control panels with blast furnaces, powered crafters, shelves, and froglights.
- Started what will be a fairly long process of designing the walls of the power core chamber.
- Happy with the broad design strokes on the cardinal directions while still sorting out the design of the diagonals, and the bottom. (There will be more digging.)
- Also trying to decide between flat, or recessed central lights, and frog lights vs copper bulbs, which can be made dynamic.
- It’s all pretty slow going since large chunks of the wall for the depth of the design need to be removed, and the chamber is 100 blocks deep.

SUBJECT: Thinking 4th Dimensionally
Dear Spawn Chunks,
With Minecraft Dungeons II releasing before the typical Minecraft winter drop, I think Mojang has a unique opportunity to connect the two games in a way that benefits both.
What if the 2026 winter drop or the 2027 spring drop introduced the fourth dimension from Dungeons II?
Since players would have already explored the dimension in Dungeons II, adding it to the vanilla game afterward wouldn’t take attention away from the new game. Players could experience the fourth dimension as an action RPG first, then return to it in Minecraft’s sandbox style, where they could build, survive, and explore at their own pace.
The two versions wouldn’t need to be identical, either. Dungeons II could focus on its story, combat, and bosses, while vanilla Minecraft could adapt the dimension to fit survival gameplay with new resources, structures, mobs, and mechanics.
I think this would be a great way for Mojang to let each game support the other rather than compete for attention.
Thanks for all the great episodes!

The Visible Math Of Minecraft
This week’s snapshot removed the ‘End Rings”, a mathematical error in Minecraft’s world generation which caused the outer islands of the game dimension to generate in alternating large rings of terrain, and empty space. While the result of bugs in the game, this terrain generation in The End, and the Beta “Far Lands” in The Overworld can sometimes feel monolithic, even iconic for some players. Jonny, and Joel discuss if Mojang should embrace bugs like these for the sake of making Minecraft more mathematically fascinating.
