- Designed, and built the four angled walls of the power core chamber. The design came together quickly without much iteration, and was pretty straight forward (if a little monotonous) in execution.
- Surprised that three different types of walls in a row don’t read that way in this context.

- Put together a quick, make shift, low expectation squid farm in a pocket of warm ocean near the mushroom island. Not expecting much of anything for spawns, if there are any at all.
- A proper AFK squid farm may need to be built on the mainland, or more time spent AFK in Southport, which already has a squid farm.

SUBJECT: Detecting Light With Gems
Hi Pix and Joel,
During Episode 414 you discussed detecting dark spaces that mobs could spawn on using necrotic ash or other means. As my wife and I were listening to the show we started discussing the gem “Alexandrite” and its possible use in the game.
Alexandrite is a real gem that changes colour depending on the light that hits the gem. Normally it’s blue or bluish-green when it’s exposed to daylight, and it turns a red or purplish red when under incandescent light. What if Minecraft had a rare gem that could be held or placed once crafted into a usable form, but would change colour depending on the light level of the block you’re standing on. This would give the instant feedback that the F3 screen gives, while feeling like a true part of the game. The bonus would be that it could be equipped in the off hand so that you can check for dark spots while placing torches with the main hand. They could even take it one step further and make it interact-able with redstone.
NerdyDavros was blown up when he failed to realize that his gem had turned red.

From Debug to Feature
With back-to-back emails the last two weeks both suggesting ways to display light levels without relying on the F3 debug screen in Java Edition, Jonny and Joel brainstorm ideas on how could Minecraft take more of the debug screen information that players rely upon and translate it to in-game features.
