SUBJECT: More Control Over Copper Golem Pathfinding

Hi Pix, and Joel!

As soon as I saw the copper golem announcement, I knew that I wanted to try them out right away. I tried to integrate them into my moss farm to sort the output.

My initial impressions have been quite positive. They add a lot of cute life to a build, and it brings me joy to see them working away.

That said, I have encountered some problems with them. One golem is not able to keep up with the output of the farm, and as I add more, they start bumping into each other, and sometimes getting themselves quite stuck.

I’m curious to hear if this lines up with your experience, and if you have any ideas that could improve this? Perhaps a copper golem could be paired with a particular item like an allay to give more control over its behavior? Alternatively, maybe golems could prefer walking on copper blocks to help guide their pathfinding more?

Tim S got stuck in a crowd of copper golems.

SUBJECT: Patina And The Copper Golem

Hi Pix, and Joel

(“Patina And The Copper Colem”) Besides sounding like a fantastic children’s book I really think that patina (oxidation), and the copper golem should have a more meaningful effect. Specifically I would really like Mojang to introduce “rule sets” for the copper golem based on its level of oxidation. For instance a fully oxidized Copper Golem might only search for exact matches while a regular Copper Golem might first search each chest for an exact match, then for an item of the same type (wools together, copper together, tools together) then some larger grouping, and so on. I think 4 levels of search would make sense for the 4 levels of oxidation.

Would love to hear your thoughts!

Jonjon_binx died to a creeper that spawned in that bulky sorting system he no longer needed. (Light up your red stone!)

The Copper Golem Returns

Mojang announced that the copper golem is coming to Minecraft in the next content drop, but it’s been reimagined from its original concept from the mob vote at Minecraft Live in 2021. Jonny shares hands on exploration, and experimentation with the handy new mob, and Joel relays first impressions, and ideas for improvement from other content creators. The copper golem is currently available for play testing in the Bedrock Preview.
