    • Replacing yet more tables, and chairs in the western quarter of Westhill.
      • It’s the fancy part of town. Buildings are larger, and there is more to decorate, so there are more tables, and chairs to update in each building.
      • When the west quarter was built, the Amour Statues Vanilla Tweaks data pack was used more frequently, so more armour stands have had to be moved out of the way to replace the old tables, and chairs, or the remove command removes the armour stands by mistake.
      • Replacing the tables, and chairs in Westhill has been a rewarding, but fiddly process. It’s almost done though!

SUBJECT: Ghastly Possibilities

Hello Pix and Joel,

After seeing the features announced at the new Minecraft Live, I’m really excited for the new Happy Ghasts. While most people are focusing on the ease of flying around that they offer, some of the things that you guys discussed in your stream covering the show made me realize that they may also be used as movable platforms! I hope we will be able to put a happy ghast in a minecart, since as you already pointed out, normal ghast already can.

What do you two think this could be used for? I can already see some platforming minigames that would benefit from this greatly.

SUBJECT: A Minecraft Movie Experience From The Pufferfish

Hi Jonny and Joel!

Recently, me and my cousins went and watched the Minecraft Movie, and we’d like to share some experiences and thoughts with you.

Overall, the film did bring in lots of Minecraft references, and actually introduced some new ones to my cousins who have been playing for over a decade. As we had the entire theatre to ourselves, we had a great time cackling at some of the jokes that were inserted into the movie, such as riding through the creeper farm and the imagination of a villager fighting event!

At the end of the movie, we did share one common thought: The movie is very much targeted towards children who have been exposed to Minecraft for a long time, and some adults with children. The plot, we agreed, was relatively predictable, but it did kept a few elements of surprise here and there, so there were still things keeping us excited to keep watching (e.g. The introduction of the evil Piglin antagonist, cactus dispensers, and the “full man sandwich”). The visuals and ambience were very well executed, although the Enderman scene did traumatise one of my cousins (we shall bet he’ll never go ender pearl gathering on his own for some time…). But all in all, it was a very enjoyable film!

Those are some of our thoughts, excited to hear about yours in the next episode!

Best regards,

BlastJordan563, and their cousins (all pufferfish variants) have been shot to death by the cactus dispensers. Now that’s not pointless!

Dear Jonny and Joel,

I went to the minecraft movie as a mid-teen and my brother as a younger teen and our parents came. We live in Ontario, and we went on the saturday after the release at 6:40pm with mid way up seats on the end. We didn’t experience any food throwing, but there was a few small kids quoting the bits form the trailer when they happened and some laughing too from everyone 😉 there was a group of teenagers next to us as we were on the end they had to get by us twice in and out but other than that it was good from a theater experience point of view, and everyone clapped at the end of the movie and cheered and it was fun, granted I haven’t gone to a theater since I was six so my perception of the experience may be a little Rose tinted as far as how good theaters are supposed to be.

As for the movie itself I loved it some references to YouTubers I watch some cameos from developers and some good acting what I would consider good CGI and a lot of good jokes. I like the movie. I like the storyline with the piglins. I like the gag where she kept trying to stab Steve at the end, that was funny.

I could see some criticisms of the storyline being a bit scattered and not enough screen time for all the characters but they were trying to fit in a lot into an hour and 40 minutes. I also thought the scene with the villager was a bit unnecessary and I liked the very end credit scene.

CaptainGraham90 went to a theater ate some popcorn and had a great time watching the Minecraft movie

SUBJECT: A Minecraft Movie Reaction Reaction

Hi Pix and Joel –

Joel, I turn 50 on April 29 (happy birthday in advance!) so I usually feel we’re in sync, but I felt differently about the experience I had seeing A Minecraft Movie.

I saw it with my 15 year old and we encountered the same cheering and clapping and reciting of lines, but I took it as a community celebrating together.  Yeah, it was teen led, but everyone in our theater got into it and seemed to be having a good time.  We didn’t have people throwing things (I would have been annoyed at that too) but it was definitely lively.

Honestly, the experience made it for us.  I’ll try to avoid spoilers but the movie had a lot of problems.  Okay – it was bad.  Writing, acting, editing, costumes (the villager, illager, and zombie costumes looked like they were designed by the same people who made Left Shark!) – they all had significant problems.  Whole subplots could have been left out and would have had zero consequence.  It felt like the writers tasked an intern with writing the script, and then he put it off until the last minute and had AI do it for him.  It was a movie with some Minecraft references thrown in.

Seeing this movie with people who were excited to be there, sharing in the experience (geeking out even?), helped it overcome what would have been really disappointing otherwise.  I sometimes get hung up on my view of what the game is and how it works, and being in this disparate crowd helped me remember that it’s ultimately the community that makes it what we love.

I hope you get to see it with less flying debris, I think you’d enjoy the experience.

Thanks for the podcast, and keep up the good work!
