      • Finished up a few small tweaks to the roof of the farm house re-adding some moss, and greenery that had to be removed when the roof was scaled down. When the roof was originally designed, azalea leaf blocks, moss, and moss carpet were not yet in the game.
      • Landscaped the riverside path to the barn cellar, the riverbank, and the retaining wall between the potato farm, and what will be the neighbouring bee farm.
      • There is still a little bit of design work left to do inside the barn, and there is small pond on the road near the entrance that is only a placeholder.

SUBJECT: Opportunity With Eggs

Hello Jonny, and Joel,

Your discussion of the new Spawn egg designs, and the need to revisit some of them got me thinking. One of the main reasons for the now retired Minecraft Live events was to give the Minecraft community an opportunity to have a collaboration with the dev team, and make Minecraft feel like it’s everyone’s game. I believe a feature like the new spawn eggs would be a great opportunity to get the community involved, and give that ‘cooperative’ feel.

Some eggs are clearly spot on, and good to go. For those that are more ‘on the fence’, why not release some alternate concepts, like on a website, and let the community give the art team a better feel for what the community likes.

What do you think?

SUBJECT: Petition For The Minecraft Art Book

Hi Pix and Joel,

I’ve been thinking, it would be really cool if Minecraft had an official art book. It could show earlier sketches of mobs, and blocks, their models, and textures, evolutions of the block textures over the years, the real-life inspiration of those designs, and splashing in some of the designer’s thought process, and design philosophy.

These are things that I – as someone who has a background in arts – would be so interested in, but they might also spark some interest, and discussion in the broader player base on possible future additions to old features, or re-usage of old ideas like crying obsidian.

What behind-the-scenes stuff would you guys be excited to see in a book like that?

Steve was so lost in the thoughts of the art book, that he failed to notice the hissing noise from behind — oh well, what’s new?

A Minecraft Movie Is A Month Away

Jonny, and Joel review the final trailer for A Minecraft Movie, and discuss their plans to see the film when it’s released on April 4. Even more Minecraft mobs, and game features are showcased in the trailer, including pandas, a creeper explosion, and a chicken jockey battle in what appears to be a Woodland Mansion.
