  • Minecraft SOS
    • ‘The Hole’ has been completed as of Thursday’s Minecraft stream last week. It would not have been possible without Litematica for a number of reasons, but Easy Place Mode was the MVP!
    • Now the work shifts to the schematic for the surrounding machinery, which should come together equally quickly, provided gathering the resources doesn’t become an issue.
      • The design requires a lot of white concrete, with Calcite, diorite, and bone for texture, all of which are still stored from the dig in decent supply.

SUBJECT: Adding Belts To Minecraft

Hey Jonny, and Joel,

I think it would be cool for Mojang to add a new belt armour slot to Minecraft. I think there should be four belts to accommodate different play styles, a tool belt, a combat belt, a builders build, and an explorer’s belt. These belts could be found as loot in different areas tailored to the play style, combat belt in trail chambers, tool belt in abandoned mineshafts, and so on.

When it comes to functionally, the belts could have an “omni tool” that allows you to use a single slot to mine, and it will auto equip the correct tool for that material. This would be unlocked if a pick, shovel, and axe were placed in the tool belt inventory. To access the omni tool there could be an extra slot in your hot bar similar to the current off hand slot in the inventory.

I haven’t flushed out any ideas for the other belts so I thought I would leave that up to you guys for a discussion.

The MCEngineer tripped and fell off a cliff because his explorers belt was not on tight enough.

SUBJECT: AI Playing Minecraft

Hey Pix, and Joel,

With the revolutionary AI models that are updating every day, I’ve started to wonder if, and when someone would code something that could actually play Minecraft.

The newest OpenAI model, 4o, has some really interesting features— mainly; live-vision. From current, it seems that if you input your screen, theoretically the AI could send commands through a mod to move, and interact in Minecraft. I figure that you may need to slow down the game with the new “/tick” command, if it needs more time to respond.

Would integrating AI into Minecraft be a cool tool to use? Do you think it could be abused, especially in multiplayer?

Would love to hear your thoughts!

Joel

Joel digs into the email from Androovious about AI and Minecraft, exploring new developments from Google DeepMind, and OpenAI ChatGPT4o, and while it’s still in the research stage, projects like SIMA are interesting to extrapolate, and apply to sandbox games like Minecraft.
