- Unfortunately, when you have a sinus cold for a solid week, it really throws a sticky piston in your plans to stream, and play Minecraft.
- There are plans to put up some extra stream content this week. Stay tuned on Twitter! (@JoelDuggan)
- VODs for the previous work on the lilac farmstead are all available on JoelDugganVODs on YouTube.

- Minecraft SOS
- The crew’s latest challenge is to adopt a non-standard pet. Pet’s were assigned randomly from a dispenser, and the aim is to have people drag around an untamed mob for two weeks, and prevent it from dying.
- Having been assigned a rabbit – a mob notorious for dying from jumping off ledges that are too high – this has proven difficult given the big dig is, well… big.
- The Minecraft Survival Guide, Season 3
- The Survival Guide world has been updated to 1.20.5 though content from The Armored Paws Update hasn’t found its way into the series yet.
- The wither skeleton farm is complete after moving Piglins in, and adding a second floor. The process was complicated by the recent changes to the reach of wither skeletons which meant the Piglins had to be repositioned from the original design.

SUBJECT: Big Maps
Hello Pix and Joel,
My first significant stretch of time in survival Minecraft was on the Xbox 360 with my dad, and younger brother. This was probably around 2012 to 2016.
One limitation of the Xbox worlds at the time was the world size. I remember that on spawn each player received a map that would plot the entire world, as well as show coordinates. The Minecraft wiki says that we were playing in a world of 54×54 chunks. While a small world size did mean that we would sometimes miss out on biomes or structures, I remember loving filling out the map and having a sense of accomplishment in knowing exactly what the overworld had to offer.
When I picked up Java edition in 2020, I remember feeling overwhelmed by the massive, “endless” world. I’ve become a frequent ChunkBase.com user as it gives me a good top-down view of the world, but it does sometimes feel cheaty as I haven’t explored every block.
I’m currently playing on a server with my partner, and don’t have access to the seed so I’m exploring by going in a straight line in the cardinal directions, but I really don’t have a feel for the local area. Could there be a way for the Xbox map idea to reenter the modern game? Maybe a map that shows 512 or 1024 chunks? To add some lore, maybe there could be a partially filled-out big map item, only found in shipwrecks… Though that could get confusing with buried treasure maps.
Emily and her dad died trying to enter a strange, large house that took up one sixth of their world’s map. It was a woodland mansion. (True story)

The Minecraft Tricky Trials Track List
Jonny, and Joel share their first impressions of the new Minecraft music released well ahead of Minecraft 1.21 Tricky Trials. With tracks composed by Aaron Cherof, Kumi Tanioka, and Lena Raine, the new music sparks a conversation about the nostalgia associated with music in Minecraft, and how the intention, and instrumental choices in some of the new tracks land entirely differently from the traditional ambient vibes players are used to.
