SUBJECT: Chiseled Blocks

Hey guys!

My wife, and I are new to your podcast but not new to Minecraft. We are both excited as always for new building blocks because we are both artists by trade as well as in Minecraft, and we look forward to creating new fantastical builds.

Chiseled copper in particular is what has piqued our interest, and we look forward to chiseled iron, and gold as well as iron and gold grates in different patterns. Please and thank you Mojang!

With the “tinkering” theme of 1.21, we were thinking instead of – or in addition to – the stone cutter, it would be so much more enjoyable to chisel blocks with a handheld tool with a neat interactive animation similar to other activities in game like making paths in grass, sheering sheep, or using the brush for archeology. Speaking of archeology, I believe it is a tool that could be added to the toolset and gameplay of archeology to chisel out items in maybe suspicious stone? Extracting ancient items from amber? What if players just wanted a new creative way to mark caves entrances by being able to chisel stones or maybe someday carve ruins?

We would love your feedback on our ideas and happy building to you both!

SUBJECT: The “Key” To Improving Peaceful Mode

Hi Jonny, and Joel,

The new trial key item is shrouded in mystery, but I think its purpose could be quite simple. I think the trial key will be used to instantly restart a trial spawner, meaning players could skip the thirty minute cool down, and even build contraptions to activate trial spawners however they like. When considering the possibilities of what a player could do with a trial chamber, and trial spawner the thirty minute cool down seems like a bit of a crutch.

What if the only way to activate the trial spawners is by using keys?

What if you could find them in chests and pots in the chambers?

I think this idea would also make the trial chamber a great solution for peaceful mode players who want to farm mob drops, and optionally introduce combat to players in peaceful mode. Hostile mobs would spawn in peaceful mode only when a trial spawner is activated by a key. Peaceful players will then know when, where, what, and how many mobs will spawn for them to fight, and farm for resources.

Keep up the great work! I started listening to the podcast over two years ago now, and this is my favourite Minecraft content. I’ve recently started back at episode one as I’ve been making a lot of long drives recently. Listening to speculation, and reactions to now old additions to the game is always fun.

Tom died from a hoard of baby zombies in peaceful mode by accidently activating a trial spawner after finding a trial key.

Thank you to our Patrons!

The Depth, Density, And Diversity Of Trial Chambers

Trial chambers have arrived in the Experimental Features tab of latest Minecraft: Java Edition Snapshot 23W45A rounding off the Minecraft 1.21 features that were revealed by Mojang at Minecraft Live this year. (Minus the Armadillo, of course.) Jonny, and Joel share their first impressions of the Trial Chambers, which are of course still in development, and discuss the potential the new structures have for adventure, challenge, resources, and emergent gameplay.

Pixlriffs loaded up a brand new Survival world to build up to, locate, and explore a Trial Chamber.
