Chunk Mail

FROM: Hill Myna
SUBJECT: A Use For Ominous Banners

Hey Joel and Pix!

Longtime listener, first-time Chunk-Mailer! This podcast is my go-to for the long drives to far-away birding locations, and I loved bingeing the back catalogue to learn more about Minecraft’s history!

Recently, I was thinking about how the Ominous Banner currently has no function. So, what if it could be used to deter Villagers within a certain range? You could use this to prevent Villagers from entering areas such as dangerous caves or your base. You could hide some Ominous Banners in trees or underground, and create an invisible barrier that they wouldn’t cross, containing the villagers without putting up a giant wall.

It would be nice if Villagers wouldn’t link to any beds or workstations within the range of the Ominous Banner so that unemployed Villagers would stop linking to your handy Stonecutter! Maybe, if you hold an Ominous Banner, they would treat you like a Zombie and run away? Keeping them out of the way as your working around them.

What are your thoughts?

Love the show,

In Hill Myna’s haste to gather Ominous Banners, they forgot to drink their milk on the way home.

FROM: GarGarGar
SUBJECT: Smelting Diorite

Hey Jonny and Joel!

After spending my winter break watching both your videos, and streams, as well as videos from a few other Minecraft creators, I’ve noticed that a lot of people use calcite but have had a hard time sourcing it.

Although I don’t know much about rocks (I’m a chemistry nerd), my research told me that diorite – in real life and minecraft – is a rather useless and intrusive rock. If players could smelt diorite into calcite, could the use, and desirability of diorite rise

Smelting diorite would also track with how basalt smelts into smooth basalt.

I would love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks always for the amazing episodes!
