SUBJECT: Glare Again?

Hello Johnny and Joel,

In Episode 183 you talked a lot about getting used to the new light levels, having to double check them with the F3 debug screen.

After playing with the new mob spawning rules for a time, what are your current thoughts about the Glare – the mob that automatically looks for the dark spots for you? Would it speed up spawn proofing your builds, and getting the light levels just right?

Cynebeald was killed by a creeper spawned on the single dark spot in my base she couldn’t find.

SUBJECT: A Portal To Ponder

Hi Joel and Pix,

I wanted to throw out a thought I’ve not heard yet on the Ancient City portal. Being this new Deep Dark leans on aspects of horror, what if the frame is not a portal for the player, but if lit, it lets more wardens – or worse – into the world?

Light it, and instantly think “That was a bit of a mistake, wasn’t it?”

Magpie was snatched by a Nameless One and was not heard from again.

SUBJECT: Peaceful Pockets

Hi Jonny & Joel,

In Episode 180, a comment was made about having shulker boxes to dye multiple colours in response to a listener email read on the show. What are your thoughts for players who play in peaceful? What about those who have not reached end game level, or who like to play in survival but don’t feel experienced enough to fight the dragon?

I have played Minecraft for a long time but I have never fought the dragon, and never gone to the end to get elytra or shulkers. I have tried to fight the wither and failed miserably. Some survival players don’t get to end-game level, and yet don’t want to play in creative either. What alternative are there for these players for carrying large amounts of blocks without access to shulker boxes or even ender chests?

Ladyblade died of exhaustion from trudging back and forth to storage locations due to lack of shulker boxes.

Peaceful Mode Challenges

What challenges can seasoned survival Minecraft players expect to run up against when playing in the game’s peaceful mode? With no hostile mobs spawning to bother the player, it also eliminates essential game progression items that can only be obtained from hostile mobs, like blaze powder, and powerful storage solutions like the shucker box. Do players still need farms? What about long term transportation without elytra?
