      • Dead fire coral (the red one) makes a good transition from dripstone to natural stone, and andesite, adding gradients and a bit of variety in the dripstone cave.
      • Installed a conduit in the dripstone cave to go diving in a large aquifer.
        • Was previously using it to harvest coral blocks, which makes a huge difference!

SUBJECT: Ancient City Treasure

Hi Pix and Joel!

I just listened to your episode with sliced lime and I had a thought about an item for chests in Ancient Cities. What if, as a rare item or block, chests in ancient cities had the chance to contain something that could be added to, or used with a beacon that would prevent mob spawns within the radius of the beacon? The chests in Ancient Cities would be the only place to obtain the item or block making it very difficult to get large quantities. I also feel like this would tie in well with the fact that mobs (other than the warden) don’t spawn in ancient cities.

Zeddles didn’t have time to write a witty sign off, because unfortunately he was at work.

SUBJECT: Hybrid Survival/Creative For A Busy Guy

Hi Joel and Pix!

I know you like short emails so I’m gonna cut to the chase.

I am a busy adult who only gets to play for a couple hours on the weekend. I run a server for some of my friends but I’m basically the only one who consistently plays.

Recently I’ve started swapping to creative mode as a way to quickly finish up projects, as I am super late game and am mostly working on this village build but can’t imagine having to spend hours grinding for resources. I then swap back to survival for other projects or when I go exploring. I’m also not above teleporting around the map.

What are your thoughts on this? A part of me feels bad for cheating, but another part feels like “Well, at least I’m making progress and having fun”.

Any other ideas for a busy guy who rarely gets to play?

FinnaCry suffocated underground after using a teleport command and lost all his netherite.

Can Minecraft Be Spoiled?

As a show with a lot of Minecraft discussion and an emphasis on new developments, it’s hard for us to stay unspoiled about Minecraft updates. But there are folks out there who like to stay in the dark about forthcoming updates, be unaware of what’s just over the hill in new world terrain, or – in a few cases – any information about Minecraft whatsoever. If we weren’t producing The Spawn Chunks, would we try to go in unspoiled? How difficult would that be?
